February, 2007 - ISSUE #4

So what are adding to the farm this year?
We started planning the 2007 growing season in December of 2006. We plan to expand the growing area for produce to accommodate farm shares for families in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.

We recommend that you fill out the questionaire, so we know if there is anything you would like us to grow for you. We will be growing several items, like broccoli, lettuces, spinach, cucumbers, melons, beans (various), tomatoes and other items.

We will be utilizing the greenhouse to get an early start, and will also use it as a season extender and to grow cold crops through the winter

The berries should produce this year, so there may be an ample supply of raspberries and blueberries for sale.
Watch future newsletters for udpates!

We will have honey available in July - August.
Again, watch for updates in the early summer newsletters.

We have 5 pregnant goat does and they should beginning kidding in late February, with the last doe due in late April. We will be "testing the waters" for goat shares, so you may be able to own part of a goat, and reap the rewards of good quality goat milk and cheeses. And of course, we will be able to make more soaps and lotions with the excess milk!
Watch the newsletters in march and April for more info. on Goat shares!

Along with the eggs we have for sale, we will be adding natural, free range turkeys for sale in early fall.
The cost will be a bit higher, since we have to use an outside source to process the birds for you, but I assure you that the quality of meat will be incomparable!!!

To your Health,
PWeber
