A new year on the farm
Hello all! We've had a few nice days, although windy, and have gotten a few things done around here. We are going to try a mixture of regular gardening (strawberries, pumpkins, watermelons, butterfly garden & sunflower garden) and will be changing over the other areas to a more "Square Foot Gardening" idea. Our goal is to cut down on the amount of weeding and need for supplements (compost, leaf mold, etc.). We also want to cut down on the amount of water needed to produce many more vegetables in a smaller area. This idea seems to fit the bill. I have been out in the garden re-doing rows into 4 foot squares. Odd time, but we didn't get to do it in Fall.
We have some wonderful things that we will be starting in the basement and in the greenhouse very soon. As usual, anything we sell will be heirloom or organic seeds that we start ourselves and grow as organically as possible.
As always, we want to grow what you want to eat - the farm will soon be ready for visitors with baby Northwest Farm Terriers due the first week of February and baby goats due starting in March.
We've had our break for the last few weeks and now the new year starts anew come February - can't wait to get my hands dirty!
Marilyn, Weber FarmsCSA Coop planning
This newsletter is the official kick off for food Coop planning. I have put up a blog on CSA, where I will throw out some ideas. I hope that many will "chime in" with their own past experiences (for those that have been involved in a CSA or food coop elsewhere), ideas, questions and concerns. What's Available??
I have provided a link on the website to show everyone what is currently available and what to expect in the upcoming months. I will also review it here: Here is a list of what is available:
